What does the artwork represent?

The DNA sequence seen in Spark is a HVR (hypervariable region) of mtDNA. mtDNA is DNA of the mitochondria which is what is used to create chemical energy in the human body.

How long does it take to receive my art work?

Due to high volume of demand and the meticulous laboratory process of extracting and sequencing DNA, you should expect 3-4 weeks to receive your artwork.

How do you collect my DNA?

DNA collection is fast and simple. We send you a DNA collection kit with a cotton cheek swab. Just gently brush the inside of your cheek for 30 seconds with the swab and you’re done!

How do I know the DNA art was made from my own DNA?

We will send you an email with the batch file of your DNA sequencing. This batch file comes straight from our CLIA approved lab.

How is your DNA art printed?

We use a Giclée fine print process to create all our artwork. The extra-fine image resolution possible in this inkjet printing process permits retention of a high degree of fine detail from the original fine art image, rendering deeply saturated colors with broad ranges of tonal values. This is one of the highest quality printing standards around!

Can I get DNA art of my dog or cat?

Of course! Just follow the instructions for pets included in the DNA collection kit. However, please note that we cannot create art for other animals.

Can you create a DNA portrait of someone no longer living?

It's possible. We do this on a case by case basis and it depends on the type of sample you would be providing for collection. Please call us to learn more.

What are your shipping fees?

We have a flat rate shipping fee of $35. For the our largest print size 36x48, the shipping cost is $100.

Do you ship internationally?

Can I track my package?

You will receive a UPS tracking number when your canvas is shipped.

Do you give my DNA to anyone else?

Absolutely not. We do not share any information about customer DNA.

Do you delete my DNA information?

Yes, we delete all data. Once your DNA is sequenced and your art file is created, we destroy your DNA sample after 30 days and remove and traces of its data. We take your privacy seriously.

Secure Privacy

Our FDA-approved, CLIA-certified DNA processing lab has met rigorous industry standards for efficacy, privacy and security.

All samples are sent to the lab and treated anonymously. Upon receipt, your cheek swab sample will be assigned a randomized number, which will be its only identifier in the lab. The lab has absolutely no access to personal or identifying information.

All samples are destroyed immediately after sequencing. Your DNA data is stored in a multi-layer, 256-bit encrypted database, exponentially more secure than current online security standards employed by major banks and retailers.

Your DNA data is used ONLY to create DNA Art you have requested and is not shared, rented, or otherwise compromised under any circumstances.
